Halibut Fishing Charter

Bottom Fishing, Done Right

Heavy tackle, deep water, real patience.

Pacific halibut is one of the most sought-after fish on this coast — a serious fight on the way up, and about as good as it gets on the table. We're about 30 minutes from some of the better halibut grounds off Victoria and Sooke, working the banks where the bottom structure holds fish.

It's a different style of fishing than salmon trolling — heavier gear, patience over the drop-offs, and a real sense of accomplishment when one finally comes over the rail. Trips run as a 5-hour half day or a full 8-hour day, up to 4 people aboard our 25' Wellcraft.

Sparkling white, mild-tasting meat that holds together well — the cheeks in particular are a real treat.

Feb – Sept

The strongest stretch for halibut on this part of the coast, though timing shifts year to year with quota and weather.
