Departing from Victoria's Inner Harbour and Sooke Harbour, we cover the south coast of Vancouver Island — reefs, banks and current lines that hold salmon and bottomfish depending on the season and the tide. Which grounds we run on a given day comes down to conditions, not guesswork.
Four Waters We Fish Most
Race Rocks
Tide-driven current where the strait narrows, pulling bait — and salmon — through in predictable lines. One of the more reliable spots when the tide's moving right.
Constance Bank
Structure and current just off the harbour approach, close enough to fish hard without burning the whole trip getting there.
Sooke Basin
A calmer alternative when the open strait kicks up — good chinook water, especially outside of peak summer migration.
Otter Point
Rocky drop-offs favoured through the summer run, with halibut, rockfish and ling cod holding on the bottom structure nearby.
Salmon
